Anyone can use the library and its resources. During library opening hours, you are welcome to read, listen to music, access your e-mail, and search the library's online magazines and newspapers.

If you become a library member, however, your library card allows you to take home books, e-books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and audio books. Your library card also gives you access to the library's many online resources from home. Try our online resources right now with a 90-day temporary membership.

For library members living in Medicine Hat who are homebound, the library coordinates a free volunteer delivery service.

Any person living in Medicine Hat or Cypress County can become a member of the Medicine Hat Public Library. A library card is issued after a successful application including a piece of identification with a local permanent address and payment of any applicable fees.

Your MHPL library card will also work at the Medicine Hat College libraries in Medicine Hat and Brooks.

We will bring in items for you from public and academic libraries throughout Alberta. We can also provide you with a special TAL (The Alberta Library) card to use when you visit other libraries in Alberta.
