A Busy Start To 2026 At Medicine Hat Public Library

Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival returns and a new speaking club among the upcoming programs
Posted on 31 December 2025 by Chris Brown.

Medicine Hat Public Library is a busy, busy place. The proof of that is in the January-February What’s On program book that stretched to 24 pages.

“I’ve been there for about two years now, a little over two years, and this is the first time that book’s been more than 20 pages. So, that just show that I guess people like what we’re doing and we are getting a lot of people into the library for all of our programs,” says Chris Brown, the library’s Head of Marketing and Community Engagement.

Days after the program book was released on Dec. 12, Brown was a guest in December on Community Conversations with Ian Parkinson on the local Rogers TV station.

Brown and Parkinson talked about the upcoming Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour stop in Medicine Hat on Jan. 11-13 at 7 p.m. In partnership with the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre and thanks to our local sponsor Cancarb, three unique adventure film screenings will be held at the Esplanade Main Theatre. Tickets are available at tixx.ca

“These are pretty spectacular movies,” says Parkinson.

They also talked about a new Circle T Toastmasters Club coming to the library and merchandise available in the MHPL store – including new graphic t-shirts.
