Lineup Announced For Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour Stop In Medicine Hat

The 21 films mix human interest stories and high-octane adventures
Posted on 06 January 2026 by Chris Brown.

In less than one week the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour lights up the big screen at the Esplanade.

In partnership with the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre and thanks to our local sponsor Cancarb, we present three unique nights of epic adventure film screenings from Jan. 11-13 starting at 7 p.m. each night.

“In general, we look to get a good mix of activities and adrenaline levels in each night,” explains Keith McLean, Head of Adult Services, about how the local films are chosen out of the nearly 90 films featured at the official festival. “Some of our audience love the human interest stories like a man building beehives by hand while others crave the high-octane stuff.”

A total of 21 films will be shown, including:

JAN. 11 A Brutal, Beautiful Life - Amid the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains and high desert, ranching women, their dogs, horses, and cattle share quiet, powerful moments of connection. Through instinct and experience, four species reveal the deep, often unseen harmony that binds life on the range.

JAN. 12 Bridgers - Two Bozeman-based ski patrollers reflect on the rapid changes facing their home and the sport they love. With 50 seasons under his belt, Dene Brandt regards the future with an optimism that infects his younger co-worker.

JAN. 13 Reel Rock: Riders on the Storm (pictured above) - Big wall climber Siebe Vanhee enlists Drew Smith and fellow Belgian countrymen Nico Favresse and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll to attempt the first free ascent of the elusive Riders on the Storm route on the East Face of Patagonia’s Torre Central. Advisory: Course language and nudity

A small number of tickets for each night are still available at tixx.ca

We found the biggest in the city. Big Truck Day 2026 will take place at Co-op Place on Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m.…...read more
