We're not sure how Halloween is going to look this year - will there be trick-or-treating? Maybe. Will there be crowded bars with Thor and Catwoman dancing side-by-side? Definitely not.
We love Halloween at the Library because we love make-believe and dressing up (and not just on the 31st, we love doing cosplay all year 'round), so we couldn't just sit idly by and watch All Hallows Eve pass us by.
We hope you'll join us to celebrate our love for Halloween and our love for Comic Books by participating in our first-ever Halloween ComicFest on Saturday, October 31. Below are the details of the day.
- We're organizing a Scavenger Hunt to take place in the downtown core. Read our comic book strip-style clues to find your way from location to location. Registration is required - read below for more details.
- We have FREE comic books to give to the first 250 people through the door.
- There will be a costume contest with a winner from three different age groups: Adults, teens, children. The winner from each category will receive a $25 gift card to Comic Readers!
- A drawing fundamentals workshop with cartoonist, Eric Dyck! Eric is a cartoonist and art educator living in Lethbridge, AB. Eric writes and draws the non-fiction comic strip, Slaughterhouse Slough. He invites you to come together by creating characters together. Call us at 403-502-8525 to register for this virtual workshop taking place at 2pm on the 31st in our Honor Currie Room. For ages 12 - 19.
- And a Halloween celebration wouldn't be complete without CANDY!!!! We'll have it. Lots of it.
THANK YOU to the City of Medicine Hat for their support of this event through the Special Cultural Events Assistance Grant!
