Originally from Ottawa, I just recently graduated from Western University with a Master of Library and Information Science. Before becoming a librarian, I earned a Bachelor of Journalism with a minor in Film Studies and Business from Carleton University and worked in communications and events for the federal government, including with the Canadian Space Agency. While there I helped promote Canada’s role in space exploration (ad astra!).
Through my volunteer experiences with my local public library and tool library, I discovered a passion for libraries and decided to return to school to pursue librarianship. During my time at Western, I completed co-op placements at the University of Waterloo and MHPL, the latter of which led me to this dream job.
When I’m not working, I love to rock climb and try new hobbies. Right now, I’m learning how to whittle!
FIVE QUESTIONS
A book that made you fall in love with reading:
When I was a kid, it was the Fudge series by Judy Blume, first read to me aloud by my grade 2 English teacher.
A book you would recommend to everyone:
John Steinbeck’s "East of Eden" got me out of a reading slump and is a classic for a reason. It is truly just mesmerizing
Fictional character you most relate to:
I would say Arthur Read, but my husband would say I’m more like D.W.
