Library Adds Second Quiet Study Pod For Patrons

New space suitable for single person use or small meetings

What’s better than one extra quiet study space in the library? Two, of course.

There have been a lot of changes at libraries over the years. Gone is the stereotypical silent space with a librarian constantly “shushing” those who dare make a sound. From open until close people of all ages come to Medicine Hat Public Library to borrow materials, to take part in programs, research and even just relax. That makes this a busy and active building and sometimes the peace and quiet people need isn’t there.

A new study pod is now available on our main level. Located next to the elevator, this space has a desk in the middle and is suitable for single or two-person use for study or a meeting. The WhisperRoom - a sound isolation booth specially designed to significantly reduce ambient and acoustic noise - we got earlier this year is still downstairs behind the theatre.

Library cardholders can book the spaces for 55-minute sessions, and up to twice a day.
