Planning For The Next Five Years

Connecting people and groups in the community, expanding the reach of our services and continuing to be a welcoming space for everyone are among the aspirations for Medicine Hat Public Library over the next five years. 

Last month, chief librarian Ken Feser and board chair Mark Kaethler presented MHPL’s 2026-2030 Plan of Service to the City of Medicine Hat’s public services committee. The strategic plan was developed following more than a year of public consultation and a wide-ranging community needs assessment and three strategic goals were established:

  • Expansion – The Library will address barriers to access by expanding geographically
  • Support – The Library will maintain a welcoming space for everyone
  • Connection – The Library will enhance its role as a community hub by creating connections and liaising between generations, cultures, and people

There are fewer than three weeks to go until our second Big Truck Day and things are looking good for our goal of making it bigger and better than the first.At last year’s event we received an overwhelming response and lots of feedback on different and additional vehicles people wanted to see.
