Become a Friend of the Library

The Friends of the Medicine Hat Public Library is a volunteer organization which supports the programs and services of MHPL through fundraising and volunteering. First formed in 1961, the Friends have raised money for Library building projects, renovation and rehabilitation of the Library building and its furnishings, programming supplies, and more.

The biggest fund raising activities are the two annual book sales – the Midnight Madness Book Sale in November and the Spectrum Book Sale in June.

When you become a Friend you get:

  • membership in a dedicated community organization
  • voting privileges at the Friends annual general meeting
  •  to hear about library projects in the works and help determine funding priorities

The Friends is a fun place to donate your time.  We need all hands on deck for the two book sales and any ideas you might have about fundraising would be greatly appreciated. Be a friend of the Medicine Hat Public Library!
